Proof Morgan Dollars
1896 $1 PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC. The 1896 proof Morgan dollars have been held up as examples of the finest silver proof coinage of the 19th century, and when one examines specimens such as this Premium Gem with Ultra Cameo contrast, it is difficult to disagree. Each side offers a strong black-and-white effect at all angles, and the figure of Liberty as well as the eagle both show a broad expanse of mint frost. Its technical preservation is as laudable as its eye appeal, and the strike reveals complete breast feather definition. Census: 8 in 66 Ultra Cameo (1 in 66★), 21 finer (10/16).
