Sacagawea Dollars
2000-P SAC$1 Cheerios, FS-902, MS66 NGC. The U.S. Mint thoroughly publicized the advent of the Sacagawea dollar in early 2000. A major promotion was the inclusion of the new "golden" dollars in random boxes of Cheerios cereal. Most of the time, the cereal box only contained a 2000 cent, but one in a hundred boxes also had a Sacagawea dollar. The coins were predominantly spent or lost before collectors realized, years later, that the Cheerios dollars exhibit ribbed feathers on the eagle's tail. The present example is lustrous and well struck with smooth fields and one slender tick on the cheek. A 2000 cent, MS66 Red NGC, originally from the same Cheerios box, is also included in the lot.
