Lincoln Cents
1922-D 1C MS66+ Red PCGS. CAC. For the most part, the 1922-D is a readily available issue. However, examples come under heightened pressure because of the lack of production at the Philadelphia and San Francisco mints that year. The date is also well-known for the No D cents that were accidentally produced when the mintmark was effaced from worn dies. The regular 1922-D cents are very scarce in MS65 and conditionally rare in MS66 with Red surfaces. This is the sole finest example at PCGS by way of the Plus designation.
Pumpkin-gold surfaces aglow in satin luster generate superb eye appeal. The devices are fully struck. The surfaces are remarkably clean with two carbon spots near the L in PLURIBUS and left of the C in CENT. Expect spirited bidding when this lot is called. Population: 11 in 66 (1 in 66+) Red, 0 finer. CAC: 2 in 66, 0 finer (11/16).
