Proof Roosevelt Dimes
1968 10C No S, FS-501, PR67 PCGS. In 1968, after a three-year moratorium, mintmarks returned to coinage. It also was the first year of the "S" for San Francisco on proofs, and in a classic bit of first-timer trouble, a small number of dimes were struck without the S. This Superb Gem proof specimen of the first "No S" error recognized in U.S. coinage history has little toning on the obverse but a faint layer of green-gold across the reverse. Contrast between fields and devices is minor, but between the solid preservation and the gleaming mirrors, this coin has winning eye appeal. Population: 8 in 67, 12 finer (11/16).
