Standing Liberty Quarters
1921 25C MS66 Full Head PCGS. The 1921 is a well-known key issue in the Standing Liberty quarter series and is especially sought-after in Mint State. Unlike many other issues, Full Head 1921 quarters typically also have full shield details, as seen on this Premium Gem. But the 1921 does suffer from frequently flat date numerals and Liberty's head often is weak at the temple, even on Full Head coins. This example has above-average strength in the date numerals, and the head detail is what J.H. Cline would have referred to as "immaculate." A splendid representative, this piece has frosty luster and nearly pristine surfaces with mottled gold and pale blue toning. Only three finer examples are certified at PCGS and NGC combined. Population: 25 in 66 (2 in 66+) Full Head, 2 finer (10/16).
