Walking Liberty Half Dollars
1920-S 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. From a substantial mintage of more than 4.6 million pieces, the 1920-S Walking Liberty half dollar is something of a strike rarity and a surprisingly challenging issue in high grade. As Jeff Ambio notes in his series reference "the difficulty of locating even a boldly struck 1920-S has been somewhat understated in the past." Fortunately, this Premium Gem is a happy exception to the rule. The usual trouble spots are at least well-detailed, with some slight separation between the thumb and fingers on Liberty's wreath hand, and some emerging detail apparent on the feathers of the eagle's leg. The well-preserved, brilliant surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster and boast outstanding eye appeal. Population: 8 in 66, 0 finer. CAC: 5 in 66, 0 finer (11/16).
