Proof Seated Dollars
1857 $1 PR65 PCGS. OC-P1, High R.5. The U.S. Mint did not report proof mintages until 1859. Thus, the mintage of the proof 1857 Seated dollar is unknown. Certainly, it was much lower than subsequent dates. PCGS estimates only 50 to 75 examples are known. This is a fully struck Gem with glassy fields and imposing eye appeal. The obverse has a peach-red center bounded by peripheral aquamarine and lavender shades. The reverse displays cobalt-blue, sea-green, sun-gold, and rose-red toning.
