Trade Dollars
1876 T$1 Type One Obverse, Type Two Reverse, MS65 PCGS. The scroll ends point left on this variety, and there is no berry beneath the eagle's talons on the reverse. Traditionally an available type-coin issue, the 1876 Trade dollar becomes a rarity in Gem condition, even though it is more plentiful in this grade than most other issues in the series. Finer coins are great rarities and are far out of reach for most collectors. This attractive Gem displays frosty original mint luster with the barest trace of champagne color. Sharp definition prevails throughout the stars, Liberty's figure, and the eagle's talons, although slight weakness is seen on Liberty's crown. A loupe reveals a few trivial luster grazes, but none are visible to the unaided eye, giving this high-end Trade dollar exceptional visual appeal. CAC-approved in a green label holder. Population: 23 in 65 (1 in 65+), 9 finer (11/16).
From The Sounder Collection, Part II.
