1875 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. Type Two Reverse. The lack of a berry beneath the right (facing) claw confirms the Type Two Reverse. Among business strikes, the Bowers reference suggests about 70% of the coins utilize a Type One Obverse paired with the Type Two Reverse. Our archives reveal the percentage is closer to 90%. Proofs, on the other hand, show a more even distribution of Type I/I vs. Type I/II. A study of our archives suggests the Type Two Reverse is about 20% more available than the Type One Reverse.
Orange border toning surrounds lightly toned centers of this attractive Premium Gem proof. Bold mint frost on the raised devices contrasts with deeply reflective fields. The strike is sharp on both the central and peripheral elements, with only slight blending at the top of Liberty's head among the hair strands. Only a few delicate lines are seen under a loupe.
