Proof Trade Dollars
1879 T$1 PR67 PCGS. The 1879 proof-only Trade dollar is plentiful in the absolute sense but seldom seen in Premium Gem condition and rare in PR67. This example displays a bold strike and frosty devices with a deeply reflective backdrop in the fields. The obverse showcases colorful violet, ocean-blue, sun-gold, crimson, and forest-green toning, while the reverse reflects more uniform amber coloration with hints of lavender-blue around the periphery. PCGS reports half a dozen non-Cameos in this grade and none finer (11/16). The eye appeal is spectacular. Any proof 1879 Trade dollar is rare this fine.
