Proof Trade Dollars
1883 T$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The 1883 proof was the final official issue of the Trade dollar series, and collectors almost always count it as the final acquisition for their date sets. Proof 1884 and 1885 Trade dollars, even if desired, are often far out of reach for collectors. The 1883 also presents a challenge for the collector of high-end proofs. PCGS has seen only a handful of Deep Cameos, and none grade finer than PR65. The present Premium Gem Cameo is among the higher-end pieces typically available to collectors. The coin is fully struck and yields appreciable field-device contrast cast in warm golden toning. A lack of marks or hairlines gives this piece excellent eye appeal. This would be an excellent showpiece and an outstanding conclusion to a high-end proof Trade dollar set. Population: 15 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 2 finer (11/16).
