1881-CC $1 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. VAM-2. The 1881-CC has the second lowest mintage of any Carson City Morgan issue. Many emerged from the GSA auctions of the 1970s, but in the MS67+ grade, the '81-CC is undeniably rare. As of (11/16), PCGS has certified only twelve such examples with just four finer. The present lightly toned and lustrous Superb Gem fully merits its lofty assignment, since the strike is full, and only microscopic imperfections are apparent. VAM-2 exhibits die fill in the upper loops of the 8s in the date, reminiscent of the 1880-CC VAM-6 overdate.
