Morgan Dollars
1883-CC $1 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. The 1883-CC Morgan dollar claims a smallish mintage of 1.2 million pieces, but most of the modest production total was never released into circulation. The great majority of the coins were stored in Mint or Treasury vaults and gradually released into mostly numismatic hands in the 20th century. Although some bags were paid out earlier, the 1883-CC was well-represented in the famous GSA sales. A relatively available issue in high grade, the 1883-CC is a favorite choice of branch mint type collectors.
This magnificent Plus-graded Superb Gem exhibits razor-sharp definition on all design elements and vibrant mint luster radiates from both sides. The impeccably preserved surfaces show vivid shades of greenish-gold and cerulean-blue toning on the obverse, while the reverse displays just a trace of pale gold. Eye appeal is terrific. Population: 211 in 67 (12 in 67+), 5 finer. CAC: 64 in 67, 2 finer (11/16).
