Proof Morgan Dollars
1882 $1 PR67 PCGS. Gold CAC. The Mint struck a substantial number of proof Morgan dollars in 1882, reportedly 1,100 specimens. Examples are usually found in PR63 to PR65 and very seldom in PR66. Superb Gem proofs are rare, especially as fine as this piece, which CAC believes would qualify for a green sticker at the next highest grade level. That would place it among the best-preserved examples at both grading services. Each side is totally brilliant with undesignated field-device contrast. Apparently free of any contact whatsoever. Encapsulated in a green label holder with a Gold CAC sticker. Population: 15 in 67, 5 finer. Gold CAC: 3 in 67, 2 finer (10/16).
