Proof Morgan Dollars
1889 $1 PR67 Cameo NGC. The 1889 proof Morgan dollar issue has a reputation for indifferent production values, though the Superb Gem offered here runs pleasantly counter to expectations. Though the strike is often lacking for this issue, the present coin is well-executed overall with only trifling softness on the hair over Liberty's ear. Contrast is also substantially above-average, with the frost on the reverse distinctly thicker than that on the obverse. Brilliant throughout. NGC has certified just one finer Cameo survivor (10/16).
