Indian Eagles
1911-D $10 MS62 PCGS. The 1911-D Indian eagle boasts the lowest business-strike mintage of the series, at a meager 30,100 pieces. As might be expected, the 1911-D is an elusive issue in all grades and it is the leading condition rarity of the series in high grade. Only three coins have been certified at the MS65 grade level by PCGS, and NGC has graded no examples higher than MS64 (10/16).
Specimens grading MS63 or MS64 are also quite difficult to locate, and such coins command significant premiums when they can be found, making this attractive MS62 example an excellent balance of quality and value. The design elements are sharply detailed, with fine detail on the lower headdress feathers. The lustrous orange-gold surfaces show the expected number of minor contact marks for the grade and overall eye appeal is outstanding.
