Indian Eagles
1915 $10 MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1915 is a rare issue in Premium Gem condition, rarer than some numismatists assume given the issue's availability in lower grades. Although many Indian eagle issues are notably rarer, the 1915 is no where near a common date at this grade level. Among Premium Gems known, PCGS-graded coins are in the minority (Our Permanent Auction Archives show a PCGS/NGC appearance ratio of only 5/14 coins). This is also the finest grade for which CAC has endorsed representatives (11/16). The most recent PCGS CAC coin that we handled in this grade was in lot 5010 of our February 2012 Long Beach Signature sale, which realized $21,850. The present coin is at least as fine as that piece from a visual perspective, showing frosty wheat-gold luster and razor-sharp detail. Close examination with a loupe fails to reveal a noteworthy abrasion. Population: 11 in 66 (2 in 66+), 1 finer. CAC: 10 in 66, 0 finer (11/16).
