Liberty Double Eagles
1864-S $20 MS61 PCGS. The date is a trifle right of the usual position, and the lower right serif of the 4 nearly touches a dentil. A delicate die crack joins stars 10 and 11. The left serif of the small S mintmark is centered over the left top of the N in TWENTY. The reverse has several die cracks through the peripheral letters. This attractive Mint State piece has frosty light yellow luster with delicate lemon patina on the rims. Both sides have trivial grade-limiting marks, but none of the heavy marks so often seen on these large gold coins. Population: 27 in 61, 18 finer (10/16).
