Commemorative Silver
1923-S 50C Monroe MS67 PCGS Secure. CAC. The Monroe Doctrine commemorative was struck for a Los Angeles exposition despite the city's tenuous connection with the event. These halves are quite plentiful in circulated grades, but are a significant condition rarity in Mint State. They are almost always weakly struck, and while this piece is no exception to that rule, it does exhibit uncommonly brilliant luster throughout. An attractive medley of gold, light blue, and silver-gray is seen across the carefully preserved surfaces. The issue is seldom offered in such a lofty state of preservation and as such, this is a serious Registry Set contender as the sole CAC endorsed example at the MS67 level. Population: 7 in 67 (1 in 67+), 0 finer. CAC: 1 in 67, 0 finer (11/16).
