Proof Commemorative Gold
1925 Medal Norse Gold PR65+ PCGS. CAC. One hundred one-inch Norse medals were struck in 15.6 grams of 900 fine gold. But 53 pieces failed to sell and were melted, leaving a net production of 47 pieces. Those medals had a uniform, fine-grained matte proof finish, and infrequently appear at auction. The present Gem offers a sharp strike and undisturbed olive-gold surfaces. Identifiers are limited to a few pinpoint flan imperfections, such as below the middle 0 in 1000, and west of the handle of the Norseman's sword. Population: 6 in 65 (1 in 65+), 6 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 5 finer (11/16).
