1921-S $1 Morgan Dollar -- Struck 20% Off Center -- MS63 PCGS. Struck substantially off center toward 3 o'clock. The date and mintmark are complete, but all of UNUM and most of AMERICA are absent. The pearl-gray and almond-gold surfaces appear unabraded and exhibit vibrant luster. Because the collar die was present, the dies were able to closely approach, and the strike is full on the wreath, as seldom seen for the issue. Off-center silver dollars are very rare, but a search of our auction archives shows a comparable past offering: a dateless 1921-S dollar struck 25% off center certified as MS62 by PCGS. As lot 7630 in our January 2012 FUN Signature, that coin sold for $14,375.
