Five-Piece 1982 Panama Struck Over Set NGC. The set includes: centesimo -- Struck over USA 1982-S proof cent -- MS66 Red and Brown; 5 centesimos -- Struck over USA 1982-S proof nickel -- MS66; tenth Balboa -- Struck over USA 1982-S proof dime -- MS65; quarter Balboa -- Struck over USA 1982-S proof quarter -- MS66; and a half Balboa -- Struck over USA 1982-S proof half dollar -- MS65. In 1982, the U.S. Mint struck five coin denominations for Panama. They were struck on regular U.S. coin planchets. A U.S. Mint press operator apparently intentionally overstruck the five coins from a 1982-S U.S. proof set with their equivalent Panama business strike dies. On a majority of the five coins, both the date and mintmark of the undertype are perceptible. Undoubtedly a unique offering.
