Commemorative Silver
1936-S 50C Columbia MS68 PCGS. CAC. Vibrant cartwheel sheen sweeps this seemingly pristine Superb Gem. The obverse displays subtle forest-green, silver-blue, and sun-gold, while the reverse features delicate lime, honey, and steel-blue shadings. An unimprovable example of this Southern commemorative issue. Columbia is the state capitol of South Carolina, and the obverse depicts the capitol buildings as they existed in 1786 and 1936, the beginning and end of its Sesquicentennial. Encapsulated in a green label holder. PCGS shows just seven MS68 coins (one of which is in MS68+) with none finer; NGC lists eight pieces in this grade, also with none finer. CAC: 5 in 68, 0 finer (11/16).
