Commemorative Silver
1926-S 50C Oregon MS68 NGC. The Oregon Trail half was struck from 1926 through 1939, and significant numbers of Gem and finer pieces are known. However, at the MS68 level only a handful were set aside. This is an essentially perfect piece with no obvious abrasions. There are two markers evident that appear to be small spots of grease that were struck into the planchet at the time of manufacture: one is above the Indian's shoulder, the other is just below the Florida panhandle. The centers are almost brilliant, but the margins are brightly iridescent, giving the coin a well-balanced appearance from side to side. Census: 17 in 68 (3 in 68★, 1 in 68+★), 0 finer (11/16).
