Commemorative Gold
1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS67 PCGS. A prize example of an always-popular Charles Barber and George T. Morgan commemorative design. The obverse is some of Barber's finest work, with a modernistic figure of Columbia astride a galloping hippocampus. The reverse revisits an eagle created by Morgan for an 1877 half dollar pattern. This Superb Gem Pan-Pac quarter eagle is among 43 such submissions in this grade at PCGS, and none could be demonstrably finer than this frosty and lustrous greenish-gold example. Population: 43 in 67 (1 in 67+), 0 finer (11/16).
