Commemorative Gold
1915-S $2 1/2 Panama-Pacific Quarter Eagle MS67 NGC. CAC. The 1915-S Panama-Pacific quarter eagles were a Charles Barber-George T. Morgan dual-design piece, but for once Barber may have outdone Morgan in artistry. These pieces are the largest "affordable" Pan-Pac gold commemoratives for the vast majority of collectors, and the present Superb Gem ranks among the finest survivors at either service. This orange-gold piece displays excellent eye appeal with a sharp strike and virtually none of the tiny marks that many lower-graded examples show. A CAC-endorsed example. CAC: 24 in 67, 0 finer (11/16).
Ex: Dallas Signature (Heritage, 3/2013), lot 4014.
