1997 $50 Half-Ounce Platinum Eagle MS70 NGC. The half-ounce coins had the smallest distribution among first-year Platinum Eagles: only 20,500 pieces. Although readily obtainable in MS68 and MS69, the 1997 fifty dollar is rare in this unimprovable grade. As usual, each side is devoid of color and fully struck. Census: 40 in 70 (11/16).
