So-Called Dollars
1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition Official Medal, Silver, MS67 NGC. HK-399, R.5. Robert Aitken, best known for his fifty-dollar 1915-S P.P.I.E. design, also served as engraver for the official medal from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, which celebrated the advent of the Panama Canal. The obverse depicts a sailing vessel and Mercury with a caduceus. The reverse figures represent North and South America. A lustrous and well preserved Superb Gem with dappled blue-green and olive-brown toning in protected areas.
