(Circa 1961) Bashlow Restrike Confederate Cent Impressions on Two Silver Cake Knives. Both antique silver cake knives are sterling silver. The first knife is 28 cm in length and weighs 132.8 gm. It has an impression from Bashlow Restrike Confederate cent dies on the handle. The second knife is 27.5 cm long and weighs 118.9 gm. It has an impression from the same dies on the lower portion of the blade. This striking is mentioned on page 241 of the book "The Lovett Cent", by Harold Levi and George Corell: "We [David Laties and Robert Bashlow] went out on the street and bought two sterling silver cake servers and got [August] Frank to strike on the large blank silver part."
