1873 T$1 Trade Dollar, Judd-1322, Pollock-1465, R.4, PR65 PCGS. The obverse is similar to the adopted design, but with a longer base on the rock that extends to the right (facing) rim behind Liberty. The reverse shows a small eagle high in the field, with spread wings and holding a ribbon that is nearly a closed loop in its beak. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. This design was produced in silver, copper, aluminum, and white metal, but only the silver version is known with both a reeded and a plain edge. This piece has a remarkably sharp strike, oftentimes this eagle motif is softly detailed on the breast feathers. Richly toned over each side with deeper blue and rose patina on the obverse and much lighter pale rose on the reverse.
