1839-C $2 1/2 -- Cleaning -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Breen-6150, Variety 22, R.4. The second Charlotte quarter eagle issue was struck from three die pairs, despite a meager mintage of 18,140 pieces. Variety 22 exhibits a boldly repunched 39 in the date. The reverse shows a vertical crack through the eagle's beak. An early die state without obverse cracks. The caramel-gold surfaces are hairlined, and the portrait shows three narrow mint-made strike-throughs.
