Liberty Quarter Eagles
1842 $2 1/2 AU50 PCGS. The Philadelphia Mint coined only 2,823 quarter eagles in 1842, of which it is estimated that only 50 or 60 survive today in all grades. This rare AU example offers bright yellow-gold luster and lightly marked surfaces. The eagle's left (facing) leg shows the only strike weakness, which is trivial. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 3 in 50, 8 finer (10/16).
