Liberty Quarter Eagles
1842-O $2 1/2 MS60 PCGS. Variety 1. Quarter eagle production in New Orleans in 1842 reached 19,800 pieces, the highest mintage of the year from all four mints, although Mint State survivors are nonetheless very rare. This piece displays frosty yellow-gold luster and remarkably well-preserved, frosty surfaces for the grade. Considerable strike weakness appears on each side, consistent with the New Orleans reputation. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 1 in 60, 11 finer (10/16).
