Liberty Quarter Eagles
1858-C $2 1/2 AU53 PCGS. Variety 1. The 1858-C is fairly plentiful among Charlotte quarter eagles despite a small mintage of only 9,056 coins. The present piece displays relatively smooth surfaces with attractive olive-gold patina. The borders are well-struck, and the central devices exhibit better-than-average definition. The reverse fields above and to the right of the eagle have minor planchet roughness and granularity, typical of quarter eagles struck at the Carolina branch mint this year.
