1859-S $2 1/2 AU55 NGC. The 1859-S is a scarce San Francisco issue, boasting a small mintage of only 15,200 coins. This Choice AU example displays rich coppery-gold patina and smooth, barely worn surfaces. Slight strike weakness on the eagle's left (facing) leg is typical of the issue. Census: 17 in 55, 35 finer (12/16).
