1857-S $3 AU55 NGC. One of the few branch mint issues in the series, the 1857-S three dollar gold piece is scarce in About Uncirculated condition and extremely rare in Mint State. This Choice AU representative displays a bold strike with lustrous fields that offer deep reddish-gold color in the centers. Light surface chatter accompanies the grade. Census: 31 in 55, 12 finer (10/16).
