Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1867 $3 AU58 NGC. High-point friction on this near-Mint 1867 three dollar gold piece is almost unnoticed next to the semireflective fields, sharp strike, and rich orange-gold coloration. Light field chatter accompanies the grade, although visual appeal surpasses that seen on most lower-end Uncirculated coins. The 1867 boasts a small mintage of 2,600 pieces, and coins grading finer than the present example are rare. Census: 46 in 58, 29 finer (10/16).
