Three Dollar Gold Pieces
1869 $3 MS62 PCGS. Coming from a mintage of only 2,500 coins and issued prior to the time period when this denomination was widely saved by numismatists, the 1869 gold three dollar piece is a rarity in Mint State. This example is in the lower end of the Mint State grade range, although few finer examples are known. The strike is bold, and each side displays bright yellow-gold color. Scattered abrasions are expected for the grade. Population: 9 in 62, 9 finer (11/16).
