1808 $5 Wide 5D, BD-4, High R.3 -- Harshly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Bass-Dannreuther Die State c/a, as usual with no reverse clash marks. BD-4 is the most plentiful 1808 half eagle variety, suitable for date purposes. This AU-level example displays rich olive-gold coloration and sharp, evenly struck details. The surfaces exhibit subdued luster, and a loupe reveals hairlines in the fields that betray an old cleaning. Still, this is a pleasing example of the issue for the budget-conscious collector.
