Classic Half Eagles
1838-D $5 XF40 PCGS. McCloskey 1-A, R.3. The 1838-D is one of the three keys to the Classic half eagle series. It is also the only Classic-design Dahlonega issue, placing considerable pressure on the 300-350 pieces believed known in all grades. This is an original reddish-golden example with the expected number of small to medium-sized abrasions for a gold coin that received 20 points of circulation.
