1843 $5 MS61 NGC. The 1843 Half Eagle is not a particularly noteworthy issue (other than its status as a No Motto type coin) until the Mint State threshold is reached, where it becomes scarce. This example shows a bold strike overlaid in rich coppery patina and softly glowing mint luster. Marks are fewer than expected for the assigned grade. Census: 32 in 61, 37 finer (10/16).
