1869 $5 AU50+ PCGS. The 1869 Liberty half eagle is an elusive and underrated issue, from a minuscule mintage of 1,760 pieces. The coin offered here shows a number of grade-consistent minor abrasions, the worst being a scratch over the final digit in the date. The well-detailed design elements exhibit some light wear and the orange-gold surfaces retain a few traces of original mint luster. Population: 7 in 50 (1 in 50+), 10 finer (11/16).
