Liberty Half Eagles
1879 $5 MS65 PCGS. This is an absolutely phenomenal example of the date. Liberty's curls, the stars, and the eagle all exhibit complete design definition. Light rose-gold hues color each side with two alloy spots near star 1 and on the cheek. A handful of small grazes in the field above the eagle's head limit the grade. Although 301,950 half eagles were coined in 1879, they are rare in MS63 and higher, especially as nice as this Gem. Population: 4 in 65, 2 finer (11/16).
