Indian Half Eagles
1912 $5 MS65+ PCGS. The 1912 half eagle, sporting a mintage of 790,000 pieces, is available through near-Gem but becomes difficult in MS65 with fewer than 100 pieces certified in this grade. Only three finer have been reported, all by NGC. Both sides of this PCGS high-end Gem are attractively toned in variegated orange-gold and soft bluish-gray. Lustrous surfaces exhibit sharply struck design features and are well-preserved. A linear mark concealed in the lower headdress precludes an even finer grade. This piece exudes tremendous eye appeal. Population: 57 in 65 (1 in 65+), 0 finer (11/16).
