1850 $20 AU50 NGC. A very typical example of this inaugural Philadelphia issue, showing yellow-gold surfaces with scattered abrasions and light high-point wear. Some luster remains in the protected regions of the fields. The 1850 double eagle was the first of its kind, and although more than 1.1 million pieces were struck, the date experienced heavy circulation and is challenging to locate today in high grade.
