1850 $20 AU58 NGC. Luster remains in the fields of this yellow-gold 1850 double eagle, while the devices are sharp and neither side exhibits significant wear. Scattered abrasions are typical of this issue, which experienced heavy circulation. The 1850 double eagle was struck with California gold, which was shipped in quantity to the New Orleans and Philadelphia Mints prior to the opening of the San Francisco Mint in 1854.
