Liberty Double Eagles
1851-O $20 XF45 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2. Attribution of this variety can be a bit tedious, but it is probably most easily distinguished by the die chip beneath the R in LIBERTY. The 1851-O is the most available O-mint in the Type One series of twenties, and as such is a popular choice for type purposes. This piece exhibits "dirty gold" patina, a sure indicator of untampered originality. Numerous small to medium-sized abrasions are scattered over each side, as usually seen on this issue. The strike details are well-defined, but not completely brought up.
