Liberty Double Eagles
1852 $20 MS61 PCGS. The mintage topped 2 million pieces in 1852 and examples are readily available in circulated grades, yet Mint State coins are scarce. This clearly Uncirculated coin will make a splendid representative of the Type One design. Cartwheel luster flashes brightly across the sunglow-gold surfaces. Abrasions are fewer and less severe than expected for the grade, with a short mark by the mouth and another in the hair, but no signs of heavy contact. The strike is sharp throughout despite advanced die cracks through the reverse legends. Eye appeal is strong. Population: 44 in 61, 50 finer (11/16).
