Liberty Double Eagles
1857-S $20 Spiked Shield, Variety 20A, MS64 PCGS. Ex: S.S. Central America, SSCA 2125. This near-Gem has duskier luster than most other Central America treasure coins, although the vibrancy of the cartwheel effect is unhindered. Peach, amber, and rose-gold hues encompass each side. The strike is sharp, and there are no significant abrasions. Liberty's cheek is particularly clean. The 1857-S was virtually uncollectible in high grade prior to the salvage of the 130-year-old shipwreck.
