Liberty Double Eagles
1864-S $20 AU55 NGC. The 1864-S was formerly a very difficult issue in AU and especially mint condition, but the S.S. Republic finds changed the landscape, making this an available issue in AU and better grades. This is a surprisingly lustrous example that shows just a trace of light friction in the fields. The surfaces are noticeably abraded on each side, as one would expect, and the color is original deep orange-gold.
